Christmas 2015

Another Christmas comes and goes - The Village as usual looked very festive with The Old Fire Station lights, the Christmas Tree in The Pound, The Square, Church Lane and the lovely coloured weeping willlows down Lower Street. This along with various houses in Middle Street, Upper Street and Gomshall Lane added to this Magical time.

Professor Branestawn Returns - The family sat down to watch Professor Branestawm for the second Christmas in a row - This was televised on Christmas Eve and was a lot funnier and more enjoyable than the first - We saw more of the village as well which was fun.

ROAD CLOSURE - 9th Dec 2015 GOMSHALL LANE

We have just been informed this afternoon that UK Power Networks require that Gomshall Lane in Shere, be closed from 09:00 am tomorrow (9th December), in order to undertake emergency works in connection with the electricity supply in the area. Apparently, the work could take up to 3 days and the road will be closed as a through route 24/7 from 9:00am Wednesday 9th Decemmber. However, it is possible that the work may be completed in a shorter time.

The closure of this road and the absence of an acceptable turning point for public service vehicles, mean that public bus services and school coaches will be unable to serve Shere village. The stops in Gomshall Lane and Upper Street will be temporarily closed for the duration of the works. For safety reasons, it is not possible to provide temporary stops on the A25.

Buses and school coaches will be able to operate as normal tomorrow morning, but parents and students should be advised that Shere will not be served thereafter whilst Gomshall Lane is blocked as a through route.

Bus and coach operators have been informed and Surrey County Council staff will place advisory notices at bus stops in Shere first thing tomorrow morning.

We and the bus operators apologise for any inconvenience due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control
